Reports on Zoomlion Rescue Team in anti-ice and snow Battle

It was 11:30 p.m. on 29 January 2008. It was subzero 2℃ in  the Maqiaohe toll station, Hunan section of Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway. In the bus numbered “YuNA2712” from Henan Province to  Shenzhen, the driver, whose surname was Chen,  shaking his hands with warm tears with the Zoomlion staff who came to do rescue work, said, “Thank you for your rescue work! You are our saver  and Zoomlion is really a great enterprise!” .

“Enterprise value originates from society” is the most accurate  interpretation of Zoomlion’s enterprise value and is the true       reflection of its full participation in the anti-ice and snow battle.  Zoomlion was brave to bear the social responsibility and fully     participated in the battle of fighting ice and snow when the rare   continuous bad weather led to the paralysis of Hunan section of   Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway.

As early as 15 January, shortly after the first snow, Zoomlion  volunteered for mission from Changsha Urban Management       Departments and sent the high proficient snow removal machines----the latest developed ZLJ5160 and ZLJ5120 snowplough vehicles to work on the expressway. Such advanced professional snow removal vehicles that were used in batches in the northern cities of China found its place in the south for the first time.

Zoomlion’s three snowplough vehicles held fast to their        positions in the key road sections of Changsha city from 15       January when bad weather began—the First Bridge of Xiangjiang River, the Second Bridge, the Third Bridge and the Forth Bridge  and the ring lines. They performed clean and salt-spreading       operation on roads of more than 3,500 km and spread more than  400 tons of industry snow melting salt, which efficiently alleviated the danger  brought by the frozen roads in Changsha City.

The disaster that was caused by snow and ice made things even worse because of the continuous bad weather. With quick response, Hunan Provincial Government issued An urgent Notice on Rapid Organization of Breaking Ice to Keep Smooth Transportation. Under the unified scheduling of Provincial Expressway Management     Bureau, Zoomlion sent equipment of three high power graders, one multi-functional snowplough vehicle and one pavement-heating machine to remove and melt the snow and ice on the west Changsha-Xiangtan section of Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway from 26 January. Through one night’s great efforts, the west Changsha-Xiangtan section opened again on the next day and made the motorcade of Hunan  “Two Conferences” delegation pass through smoothly.

Early 28 January, Zoomlion organized mechanical equipment to clean the snow on the roads of Lugu Industrial Park in Changsha High--Tech Industrial Development Zone. Regardless of the bad weather, senior executives and researchers of Zoomlion studied how to perform the functions of engineering equipment properly to remove and melt the snow and the ice. On that afternoon, on receiving   the urgent commission from Hunan Province Snow and Ice Relief Headquarters, Zoomlion quickly organized four snowplough vehicles assembled urgently and four high power graders to perform their  commission on the whole Hunan Section of Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, such as Linxiang-Changsha Expressway, Changsha-Xiangtan Expressway and Xiangtan-Leiyang Expressway.

Ice and snow is stone-hearted while Zoomlion is warm-hearted. On 29 January, Zhan Chunxin, Chairman of Zoomlion board,      suggested that apart from removing and melting ice and snow,    Zoomlion should help the drivers and passengers practically who suffered from cold and hunger when he made instructions on the rescue work. 

On that morning, various departments of Zoomlion took quick action. They raised money to purchase 200 military overcoats, 100 boxes of food and drinking water and sent them to the suffering passengers and drivers on the jammed section in Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway against foul weather.

On 29 and 30 January, Zoomlion staff, with the hosts and reporters from medium such as Hunan Communication Channel and under the guidance of a police car from Hunan Expressway Management Police Station, got into the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway through Changsha Xingsha Toll Station. Although it was very difficult to move ahead on the thick snow and ice, they came along the emergency lane and distributed the rescue goods to the suffering passengers and drivers. At noon of 30 January, Zoomlion rescue team returned after the traffic police officers’ much persuasion and donated all the left goods to the head office of Hunan Provincial Charity Association.
